Army of Annamarie
All thigns considered, I thought the shot turned out really well. And even though you can't really tell it's all Annamarie in the still shot you can definately tell it in the moving video.

Fun fact: This is the most elaborate shot I have ever done -- both in filming and in editing. The final version took 11 video tracks and 18 audio tracks to put 9 versions of Annamarie on the screen at the same time.

It does look really good. I was afraid because of the fact that the sun was going down, that it wasn't going to look right, but the shadows all work...and I think I see your shadow!

I was worried about the change in light too, and it would have been more of a problem if I had shot it anywhere but on the road because -- well, it was jsut the perfect place for the shot in many ways.

The shadow of the tripod is in there, but the other two long shadows are shadows of trees -- I made sure mine wasn't in shot I used for the bottom of the screen!

couple of questions (because I'm a geek)
1. how long to set up and shoot the shot?
2. is it a fixed camera or is there camera motion
3. how long to edit?
4 how long to render?
5 is Annamarie still talking to you ?

No problem -- I'd be asking the same questions if I didn't shoot and edit the shot. ;)

1. It took about fifteen minutes to set up the shot (we had nine people stand on the road at arm's length and used chalk to mark their position (and the character name they were standing in for) on the road. I didn't time how long it took to shoot from start to finish, but it was probably between 20-30 minutes. Some of her changes could be fast because they were clothes put over others, but some involved a full change.

2. The camera is still and steady. it's a lock down shot -- I couldn't have done it any other way.

3. Including the time it takes to capture it etc. it took me about an hour and a half.

4. It only took about five minutes (maybe ten) to render because it's not a long shot and the computer is awesome.

5. Yes. In fact she really seemed to have fun shooting the shot, and she was awesome!

Why did it take so many more audio tracks than video tracks?

And what's the extra video track? I count 9 Annamaries + the blank one to take out your shadow. What's the other one?

I didn't do the shot but I want to take a stab at your question. I have a feeling that it was a background shot without anyone in the frame. correct me if I'm wrong.

For each track of video (at least tht video with annamarie) there are two tracks of audio (mono left and mono right = stereo).

Because of the sun setting the light in the sky changes a little bit in the later annamarie shots, so I cut in a sky from one of the earlier shots to cover the lighting change -- and you can't tell in the shot so that's good.

Okay, that makes sense. I knew there was one blank shot but I didn't know you'd done a second for the sky as well. It looks awesome.
